Some people have never heard of boudoir, some people have an idea what it is, there are some people who speculate what it is, and then there are those who have experienced a boudoir session and truly understand what Boudoir Means. According to Google the meaning of Boudoir Photography is "a form of professional photography that is intimate, flattering the curves and beauty of the client's body. Boudoir, which is French for a woman's private dressing room, inspires the intimacy of this genre of photography.
I read a few different definitions and nowhere did I find anywhere what the true meaning behind boudoir is and what it does for the ladies. What boudoir means to me is a form of art that empowers women and uplifts them in ways that is almost hard to describe to people who have never experienced it. Once you have had a Boudoir Photography session, you get it, you feel the empowerment and your confidence boost, you feel like you are riding a high and you never want it to end!
Some people will ask, how does taking sexy pictures empower woman and uplift them? In today's world woman are busy, we are stressed, and we can lose ourselves in our daily grind from work to our families. Society's beauty standards are changing, but there are so many woman who hate their bodies, who look in the mirror with loathing in their eyes because they are not comfortable in their own skin. We can get in a funk where we just aren't feeling good about ourselves and our self-love is running low.
Boudoir is about self-love, it helps you realize that you are perfect as you are. It shows you just how amazing your body is, and reminds you of how beautiful
you truly are. It empowers you during your session because you feel and look like a goddess, and that does something to a woman, that is almost indescribable, again it's one of those things that is hard to describe to someone who hasn't experienced it. During your session you feel beautiful, and feeling beautiful and sexy is empowering! And when woman feel beautiful it uplifts them, it boosts their confidence and it just truly makes them feel good when they walk out of their boudoir session.
I knew I had to focus my photography on Boudoir last year when I hosted my first Boudoir Event for valentine's day. The feeling I got for empowering these woman, was a rush that I had never felt before. The feedback from the ladies, ignited my passion in ways I had not felt in a very long time. I knew it was truly my calling to empower and uplift ladies, to remind them of their beauty, and just how wonderful they truly are! That is why my first project was the Seeing Beauty in Imperfections passion project. It was based off of Kintsukuroi which is the Japanese art of repairing items with gold or silver, understanding that it is more beautiful for have been broken.
Boudoir Photography isn't for everyone, and that is ok, but Boudoir Photography is so much more then just taking sexy photos. In fact, they don't even have to be sexy, each session is different for every lady. That's the great thing about Boudoir photography, it is a unique experience tailored to you and is different for everyone. I work with each lady before her session to ensure they get the most out of their session.
Boudoir Photography is many things, and it is different for each individual, but for me, boudoir photography is the art of showing woman their true beauty lies within, while showcasing their beauty in ways that they aren't used to seeing, which empowers them and uplifts them in ways that are almost indescribable, because it's one of those things, if you know you know. The only way to know is by experiencing a boudoir session for yourself. Come get Crystalized with me!
